Elder Gregory M. Askew, Sr. was born in 1962 to the late Rev. George P. Askew, Sr. and Mother Katie Askew. He is the youngest son of four children. As a young boy being the son of a Baptist pastor, Gregory was a very outgoing and active individual. As a student, he participated in numerous activities including, basketball, student government parliamentarian and the school band. Among his peers, he was always selected as most courteous and most congenial.

After graduating from Northside High School in 1980, he attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff for two years. He later completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Memphis (1995) earning a Bachelor of Science in Education.

In December 2000, Elder Askew earned a Masters Degree in Counseling from the University of Memphis. During his Internship, which preceded this particular degree, he received extensive training specializing in the areas of Marital & Family Systems, Death & Dying, and Domestic Violence counseling. This training took place at the renowned Memphis Healing Center under the leadership of Dr. William H. Young.

Askew received his call to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ at the early age of nineteen and has now been an ambassador of that glorious since that time. In 1981, he became a member of Temple of Deliverance under the leadership of Apostle G. E. Patterson. Askew served faithfully in various capacities including Youth and Young Adult Choir, Ministerial Alliance, Pastors Aide Auxiliary just to name a few.

In 1995, the late Bishop GE Patterson (Former Presiding Bishop of Church of God in Christ, Inc. 2000-2008) appointed him as the Assistant Pastor of Temple of Deliverance. In December 2001, Bishop JL Maynard appointed Elder Askew to serve as pastor of Jubilee Church of God in Christ.

Elder Askew also takes an active role in the Church of God in Christ on the State and National level. He has served as the YPWW President and Jurisdictional Chairman of the TN 4th Jurisdictional AIM. He serves as one of the Administrative Assistant of Tennessee 4th Jurisdiction and is the Superintendent of the UE Miller Memorial District of TN 4th. From 2000 through 2005 he served as the Assistant General Secretary of Information Technologies under the auspices of the Church’s former General Secretary, The late Elder AZ Hall, Jr. He has also served as a National Adjutant in the Church.

Aside from his various ecclesiastical duties, Elder Askew is also a very talented Webmaster. He is the creator and designer of www.bbless.org, the official home page for Temple of Deliverance Church of God in Christ (Bountiful Blessings Ministries), WBBP 24 full gospel radio station, and Tennessee 4th Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction and many other churches.

An accomplished musician, he has performed at various levels of the music industry including with the University Orchestra and Temple of Deliverance Church Orchestra.

He has served on the Council of the East Memphis Life Blood and has appeared on many public service announcement TV commercials as a recruiter for blood donors. He was highlighted in the January 1, 2001 issue of The Memphis Tri-State Defender Newspaper and “One who beat the odds” and in 2013 he was featured in the Memphis Commercial Appeal Cover story as "A Spiritual Counselor".

He is married to the lovely Sandra Spratt Askew and the proud father of 5 beautiful children and seven wonderful grandchildren.
